Interventional Radiologist Spotlight: Bilal Anwer, M.D.

Interventional Radiologist Spotlight: Bilal Anwer, M.D.

This month we are pleased to introduce patients and friends to Dr. Bilal Anwer, who recently joined Minneapolis Vein Center. Read on to get to know Dr. Anwer, and find out what one healthy habit he wants everyone to follow.

What led you to the field of interventional radiology?

With previous experience in engineering and medical device development, Interventional Radiology was a natural fit for me given its use of technology, real time problem solving, and the opportunity for innovation. Making a direct difference in patient’s lives while enjoying what I do has been a dream come true.

What should everyone know about venous disease?

Veins have traditionally taken a backset to arterial disease but that is changing fast. Veins are a vital part of the body’s circulation, and I encourage everyone to be educated about the symptoms of venous disease. In fact, nearly half of the U.S. population has some form of venous disease, which may or may not cause noticeable symptoms.

What one healthy habit do you wish all people would follow?

Spend time with your family and kids. Healthy relationships lead to a happy and fulfilling life. I moved back to Minnesota for this exact reason and have never looked back.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I can’t wait to get home and see my kids after work. They take up most of my free time. I also enjoy playing squash and going for walks with my wife when I can.
